Nuremberg Forum 2017: Peace and Justice at a Crossroad

ast week many renowned experts in international relations and international criminal law met in Nuremberg for the Nuremberg Forum 2017 on invitation of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy (INPA). The topic of the conference was the Nuremberg Declaration on Peace and Justice which was adopted ten years ago. The keynote speech was delivered by ICC President Silvia Fernández de Gurmendi, whereas at the end of the conference the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, was present by video message. To mark the conference Professor Safferling, one of the vice presidents of the advisory council, gave an interview in the Nürnberger Zeitung on the current status of peace and justice. The promise to end impunity, as formulated in the 2007 declaration is far from being delivered.
